Dr. Frances M Ashcroft will be awarded a Certificate of Honor, US$150,000 and a Japanese objet d’art on March, 2023. The award ceremony will be held on March, 2023.
The Selection Committee highly recognized her pioneering and groundbreaking contributions over years to disclosing mechanistic functions of the KATP channel in glucose-stimulated insulin secretion and to identifying neonatal diabetes caused by KATP gene mutations, which transformed both our understanding of mechanisms of insulin secretion and the lives of patients with a severe form of diabetes.
Dr. Frances M Ashcroft was therefore selected a Prize winner of this year.
