2025 Winner of the Manpei Suzuki International Prize for Diabetes Research
Roman Hovorka, PhD.
Professor, University of Cambridge, Institute of Metabolic Science.
Dr. Roman Hovorka will be awarded a Certificate of Honor, US$200,000 and a Japanese objet d’art on March, 2026. The award ceremony will be held on March, 2026.
The Selection Committee highly recognized Dr. Hovorka’s pioneering contributions over the years to develop a glucose control algorithm for the closed-loop insulin delivery system. The Committee also highly recognized his landmark contributions to conducting clinical trials demonstrating safety and efficacy of the closed-loop insulin delivery system, which has resulted in meaningful improvements in quality of life for people with type 1 diabetes and their families.
