Mr. Hideho Kawamura, president of the Manpei Suzuki Diabetes Foundation gave the opening address and presented the 2010 Manpei Suzuki International Prize for Diabetes Research to Prof. Carl Erik Mogensen, Professor of Medicine, Medical Department M (Diabetes & Endocrinology), Aarhus University Hospital, Aarhus, Denmark, on February 16, 2011, at a ceremony held in Tokyo, Japan.
Prof. Mogensen received a Certificate of Honor, US$150,000, and a Japanese objet d’art.

Dr. Takashi Kadowaki (M.D., Ph.D., Professor, University of Tokyo Graduate School of Medicine) presented the reasons for bestowing the 2010 Prize to Prof. Carl Erik Mogensen.
Prof. Mogensen’s commemorative lecture was entitled, “My Paradigm Shifts in Diabetes and Hypertension”
